ACTIVITIES
Promotion of young talents
We, in collaboration with
Anamika Kala Sangam has been promoting young dancer at our
Padatik Little Theatre –II (PLT-II).
At the same time we also
present reputed/our standing dancers/dance groups which come
from outstations in this category we have presented artistes
like SmtSona Mansigh, Pratibha Pramad, Vaijayanti Kashi, Ram
Mohan Maharaj and others.
International seminar and
workshop on Indian dance Traditions and Modern Theatre:
In 1983 Padatik organized this
seminar and festival with a view to finding new idiom for
Modern TheatrePrminent figure from denmark, USA, Japan,
Thailand apart from.
Kathak Mahotsav ‘84
In 1984 Kathak Mahotsav was
organized to explore the contemporary Kathak scenano. The
festival presented a representative spectrum of dancers who
capture the multi-faceted Kathak scene at the national level.
Lokotsav’86
For the awareness of the
excellence and importance of the Indian folk arts, Padatik
invited almost all the important folk groups and artistes in
this 3day festival held and three different theatre in the
city. This festival of 3 days was presented at a time and
three venues i. e. Mukta Manch, Rabindra Sarabar, Kalamandir
and Universities Institute Hall.
It can be specially mentioned
that Lokotsav included the programme of ……….
Tijan Bai from Chhatishgarh
which was indeed an experience.
International Festivals
Padatik organized International
Festival and seminar on Theatre Dance and Martia Arts in 1987
. 200 Delegates from 29 Countries including India attented the
festival/seminar held at four venues.
Theatre Education on School
Project
Padatik has been co-ordinating
Theatre Education in School Project in Kolkata and suburbs in
collaboration with dept.of Secendary and Higher education.
Government of India . Under this project Padatik has conducted
production oriented Theatre workshop in different schools for
creating awareness about theatre amongst the students.
Dance Education in School
Project
Padatik Dance Centre has been
co-ordinating Dance Education in Scholl Project i.e. kolkata
and in collaboration with Dept.of Secondary and Higher
Educational Government of India.Under this Project Padatik
Dance Centre has conducted production oriented Dance workshop
in different schools.
Promotion of young dancers:
In 1997 it organized “ Paschim
Banga Kathak Competition “ in collaboration with Anamika Kala
Sangam and West Bengal State Music Academy. The students were
adjudged by Pt. Birju Maharaj. The finalists had the
opportunity to dance on the stage while the winners were
honoured with cash awards.
Swarn Nritya Pratibha with
Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi
In2004 , Padatik has organized
Swarn Nritya Pratibha for young dancers on behalf of Sangeet
Natak Academy, New Delhi. The festival was held at Rabindra
sadan where talented dancers of different classical dance
forms participated from all over India.
Young Dancer Festival
To promote young dancers of all
classical forms Padatik has organized ‘Judge coince Young
Dancer Festival’ in 2005. It presented 11 young talented
dancers of different classical dance forms from Kolkata and
outside at the Rabindra Sadan . The dancers were selected by
the reputed gurus like Thankamani Kutti, Priti Patel , Alok
Kanungo and Madhumita Roy.
