Padatik Cultural Centre is a charitable trust under which presently 3 non profit making societies are functioning i.e.

Padatik aspires to work towards achieving the following in the field of the performing arts, mainly theatre and dance:

To train serious artistes to the highest degree of excellence, not neglecting those who want to be   trained for imbibing aesthetic sensibility but without any ambition to become outstanding artists or professionals.

To constantly improvise and innovate.

To constantly experiment and bring about changes to adopt to the changing times and popular tastes without transgressing the basic aesthetic sensibilities of the traditional forms of Indian art and culture.

To make people generally more aware and receptive to Indian performing arts, particularly serious theatre and traditional and contemporary dance forms by making innovations in the style of presentations and/or otherwise.

THEATRE EDUCATION IN SCHOOL PROJECT BY PADATIK

Padatik, Kolkata has been conducting Theatre Education in School project for the last several years under Department of Higher Education, Government of India (New Delhi).

Padatik gets sanction from the above Ministry for 10 schools where it conducts production oriented theatre workshop. After completion of the workshop a production is presented by the participating students of the concerned school either at the school premises or else where to show the result of their training. The workshop is conducted by the theatre experts like Jhelum Ghosh (English), Pradip Roy (Hindi), Arindam Mukherjee (Bengali) and others.

This year too (2009-2010) Padatik has got fresh sanction from the Ministry for 10 more schools and the workshop has already begun at at Lakshmipat Singhania Academy. On the 22nd December’09 their final presentation is scheduled at the school auditorium.

Next St. Peter’s School (founded by Mother Teresa) is lined up to be commenced on 12th January, 2010.
